Research

In my research I work on coupling of a Lattice Boltzmann solver with a Finite Volume solver in order to simulate the acoustic far-field generated by a highly vortical flow through a porous medium. Here, the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is used to solve the incompressible Navier-Stokes Equation (NSE) while the Finite Volume Method (FVM) is used to solve the compressible Linearized Euler Equations (LEE). We introduce a buffer zone in which we solve the LEE using LBM. This way we can first couple the different models (NSE ↔ LEE) and then couple the different methods (LBM ↔ FVM). This approach allows us to use appropriate coupling strategies for each interface.

CAMMP

CAMMP -- Computational and Mathematical Modeling Program -- is an Education Lab of RWTH Aachen University. Within this project we test and use novel approaches in mathematical education. Foremost, our goal is to familiarize students and teachers with problem-solving using mathematical modeling and computers.
