In kinetic gas theory approximation methods based on moment equations proved to be a successful extension of fluid dynamics for applications in micro- and rarefied gas flows. Still, many open problems remain in the modeling of the evolution equations and boundary conditions as well as in the development of appropriate numerical methods.

This workshop brings together mathematicians, engineers and physicists to present and discuss ongoing research in moment equations in detail.

The workshop successfully took place on November 6-8, 2008
